Spacious living areas
Our accommodation features several cozy living spaces for every moment of the day. The Stables (60 m²) form the heart of the house: a spacious living and dining area with a seating corner for 10 people and flexibly arranged tables. For those who want to retreat for a while, there's the Lounge (18 m²) – ideal for a game or some screen time in smaller company. The Sofa (8 m²), meanwhile, is a cozy nook to relax with a good book. Adjoining this is an open kitchen, fully equipped for cooking together and enjoying delicious meals, worry-free.
Sleeping and bathrooms
Our bedrooms are designed for comfort and rest. Two rooms each accommodate three people and have their own shower and sink. In addition, there are two bedrooms for two people with comfortable double beds and access to a spacious shared bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower. A baby cot is available upon request. All rooms are fitted with ample storage space and natural light, so you can relax in peace and quiet after a wonderful day.
Outdoor living
Enjoy outdoor living on our spacious terrace (45 m²) that connects directly to the living area, our covered Hangar (50 m²) with wifi and patio heaters, perfect for dining together, playing table tennis, or throwing a cozy party. The garden invites play and relaxation among the fruit trees, along the log path, or around the fire pit. And for a true farm experience, pick fresh vegetables and fruit from our vegetable garden in season, or gather eggs from the chickens.
Things to do
Opvelp lies in the middle of the fields of Boutersem and Bierbeek, close to the Meerdaalwoud and Heverleebos forests. From Maison Mariette you can walk or cycle straight into nature, with countless routes via the cycle node network. The 100 km Brabantse Pijl cycling race even passes right by the door. We've mapped out the loveliest routes for you and have route maps ready. You can safely store bikes with us.
Just 2 km away you'll find the Cultural Center De Borre, with a rich offering of sports, dance, music, and theatre, and a cozy eatery/café.
You won't have to look far for good food. In Bierbeek you can visit the eatery In de Molen or Bistro De Borre. Be sure to try our local beers: Bierbeek Tripel, Bruin, Saison, and Wit. Prefer takeaway? Sushi from Manzoku, pizza or fries from De Fritzak are ideal. In Leuven, 10 km away, you'll find even more places to eat.
Those looking for culture and relaxation will find cinemas, museums, city walks, performances, and even football matches at OHL in Leuven.

Maison Mariette, a fantastic place to be. A place where old and new come together in a building beautifully renovated while preserving its authentic elements. We spent a wonderful family weekend here with 12 people! Everything has been thought of: a spacious kitchen with a super handy storage cupboard, the possibility of seating many people at one table, plenty of bathrooms, and various seating areas so you can find some peace and quiet. Outside, a beautiful garden with a spacious terrace and wadi, a large open hangar to sit and play under, an oasis of calm in the green garden — truly wonderful. In the evenings, the youngsters could head out to Leuven, just a 10-minute drive away. In short, Maison Mariette really offered us everything we needed for a successful weekend! Highly recommended!
Thank you for another wonderful stay at Maison Mariette. Having stayed twice in the past year with our extended family, we wanted to let you know how much we have enjoyed our visits. The house is exceptionally well suited to larger groups, with excellent facilities, a practical and well-equipped kitchen, and ample fridge and freezer space that make catering easy. We also greatly appreciate the fast, reliable WiFi, especially when so many people are connected. One of the highlights for us is the beautifully designed outdoor space, which creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere for spending time together or simply enjoying a quiet coffee. Combined with the peaceful walks in the surrounding area and the easy access to Leuven city centre, it offers an ideal balance of tranquillity and convenience. We would also like to thank Lisa for the warm welcome, helpfulness, and excellent communication on both occasions. Maison Mariette has become a favourite destination for our family gatherings, and we would gladly recommend it to others. We hope to return again in the future.
Maison Mariette almost feels like our second home. We enjoy staying there whenever we have the chance to be together in Belgium. The location is perfect: we can cycle to Leuven or meet up with friends in Bierbeek or in the house itself. The house is welcoming, warm and perfectly equipped to spend quality time together inside and outside.
