Welcome to La Mariette
House Rules & Guidelines

Dear guests, we hope you have a fantastic and relaxing stay in our holiday home! To keep things pleasant and safe for everyone, and out of respect for the neighbourhood, we kindly ask you to follow the house rules below. Thank you in advance!

1. Arrival, departure & night time quiet

  • Arrival & departure: The house is available from the agreed time. On the day of departure, we ask you to leave the house promptly, so our cleaning staff can start on time.
  • Night time quiet & neighbours: La Mariette is located in the quiet village of Opvelp. We value a good relationship with our neighbours. Quiet hours start at 22:00. From then on, music outside or noisy activities in the garden are no longer allowed.

2. Use of the house & facilities

  • Capacity: The house is furnished for 10 people. If you would like to stay with more people, this is possible if agreed in writing in advance.
  • Furniture & rooms: Please do not move the beds, wardrobes or sofas. If you move tables or chairs, we ask that you put them back in their original place before departure.

3. Kitchen & appliances

  • Facilities: The kitchen is fully equipped with high quality appliances (induction hob, espresso machine, 2 fridges and a freezer). Please treat them with care.
  • Dishes: Do not leave dirty dishes on the countertops when you leave. Please fill and start the dishwasher one last time before your departure.

4. The garden, the hangar & the fire pit

  • Large hangar: The covered hangar is an ideal space for play and relaxation, even in less pleasant weather. Please tidy away the games after use.
  • Fire pit: Campfires or the use of the fire basket are only allowed at the designated fire pit in the garden. Never leave a burning fire unattended and extinguish it completely with water before you go to sleep or leave.
  • Smoking: Smoking is prohibited throughout the entire house. Smoking is only allowed outside on the terrace or at the hangar. All cigarette butts must be cleaned up before departure.

5. Pets (outdoors only)

  • Pets are very welcome on our property, but for reasons of hygiene and allergies strictly outdoors only (in the garden, on the terrace and in the covered hangar). Pets are not allowed inside the holiday home.
  • Sleeping & crate: As the owner, you must provide a crate in which your faithful four-legged friend can sleep at night (for example in the covered hangar).
  • Keeping the garden clean: Please clean up any "accidents" from your pet in the garden or on the grounds immediately, so the garden stays clean for children at play.

6. Parking & electric charging

  • On the property: There is room for a maximum of 2 cars on the property itself.
  • Extra cars: Coming with more than 2 cars? Please park the extra vehicles at the public car park De Velpe (Velpestraat, just a 650 metre walk from the house).
  • Electric charging: Electric cars can be charged both on our own property and at the public car park De Velpe.

7. Waste management & sorting

Sorting: In Flanders, sorting waste is mandatory. Please separate waste strictly into the designated bins in the kitchen/storage room:

  • PMD (plastic bottles, metal packaging, drink cartons)
  • Organic waste (vegetable, fruit and garden waste)
  • Paper & cardboard
  • Residual waste
  • Glass (collect separately)

8. Departure checklist ("broom clean")

Before you close the door behind you, we ask that you leave the house broom clean:

  • All bins have been emptied and the waste has been sorted into the correct containers.
  • The fridges and freezer have been completely emptied.
  • The dishwasher has been filled and switched on.
  • All bath and bed linen may be removed from the beds and collected in the large bathroom.
  • All windows are closed, the lights are switched off and the heating is set to the agreed setting.
